To our community, partners, and patients around the world
As we approach the end of the year, we find ourselves reflecting on the extraordinary momentum, collaboration, and transformation we’ve seen across the breast imaging landscape. This has been a remarkable year for Koning and for Breast CT as a whole—a year where long-standing hopes began turning into everyday realities. It feels like the right moment to pause, look back with gratitude, and look ahead with deep optimism for what’s coming next.
As physicians who have spent our careers dedicated to advancing breast imaging, we have seen firsthand how technology can change lives. But every so often, a technology emerges that does more than merely improve a process—it shifts the landscape entirely. For us, that technology is Breast CT, and we are deeply energized by the growth, acceleration, and real-world impact we are seeing at Koning.
For decades, breast imaging has relied on the same general approach: flatten the breast between two plates and take a two-dimensional picture. While this has helped detect countless cancers, it has limitations—especially for women with dense breast tissue, for whom important findings can be hidden.
Breast CT is different. It allows us to see the breast in three dimensions, without compression, and with extraordinary clarity. As more centers adopt the Koning Vera system, we are watching the field evolve in meaningful ways that we once only hoped for.
What This Looks Like in the Real World
- Women who used to dread their mammogram are finally comfortable coming in.
We have met women who avoided their annual breast exams for years because of pain or anxiety around compression. When they learn that Breast CT is completely compression-free, they show up—many for the first time in far too long. One woman told us, “If this had existed earlier, I never would have skipped my breast exams.” That’s the type of change that can save lives. - Clinicians are finding things that would have been extremely difficult to see before.
In dense breasts, overlapping tissue can obscure abnormalities on a traditional mammogram. With Breast CT’s 3D view, those overlaps are gone. Radiologists who review cases on the Vera often tell us they can see the “full story” of the breast in a way that allows them to make more confident decisions, faster. - Faster answers for patients during some of the most anxious moments of their lives.
No one forgets the fear that comes with being called back for more imaging. One of the most powerful impacts we’ve witnessed is how Breast CT can streamline the diagnostic process—fewer extra appointments, fewer repeat images, and clearer results. The emotional relief this provides is real, and profound. - A new generation of physicians is being trained on a technology that finally aligns with how we diagnose disease today.
We are seeing early adopters—medical centers, educators, and clinical researchers—embrace Breast CT as a forward-looking modality. They understand that 3D imaging is the future, and they are preparing their residents and fellows accordingly.
Where We’re Heading Next
The pace of adoption has accelerated rapidly—new installations across the U.S. and abroad, growing interest from major health systems, and more clinical partners joining our research network. Each new site means greater access, more data, and more opportunities to understand how Breast CT can support early detection and personalized care.
For us, the excitement comes not just from watching the technology grow, but from watching the impact grow. Every new center represents thousands of women who now have a more comfortable, more accurate, more modern option for breast imaging. It represents clinicians who can diagnose with greater clarity. It represents families who may get answers sooner, or avoid uncertainty altogether.
Our Commitment to You
As Co-Chief Medical Officers, our mission is to continue advancing the science, supporting our clinical partners, and ensuring that this technology reaches the patients who can benefit from it most. We believe deeply in the role Breast CT can play in improving outcomes for women everywhere—and we’re just getting started.
As the year comes to a close, we want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. Thank you for your support, your belief in this technology, and your commitment to women’s health. We wish you a joyful holiday season and a healthy, hopeful start to the new year.
With appreciation and optimism,
Dr. David Bodne & Dr. Richard Reaven
