    KBCT Benefits

Breast cancer is the most common cancer globally, affecting women of all ages with an average risk of 13% in the United States alone. Its effects can be greatly reduced with early detection and proper medical care - which means it is only fitting that a great amount of effort is put into bettering the industry and creating a more successful patient experience.

Traditional breast imaging options such as FFDM, DBT, ULTRASOUND, MRI, and full-body CT have several drawbacks. By developing the Koning Breast Computerized Tomography (KBCT), Koning aims to revolutionize the breast imaging industry.

KBCT benefits over traditional imaging options include:

    3D Imaging

Our device is the only breast imaging option that uses real 3D imaging with 360 rotation, allowing for contrast enhanced imaging and accurate detection of small tumors even in dense breasts.

The KBCT underside doors allow clinical staff access to guided biopsy where the exact location of the area of interest can be determined. For the first time in breast imaging, KBCT also introduces co-registration in multiple planes using TRUE 3D volumetric imaging.

    No compression

Compression in particular is a statistically confirmed reason why many women skip their annual breast scan. A KBCT -scan is completely painless and lasts a mere 10 seconds. This also ensures a low implant rupture risk, as well as a more dignified patient experience as it eliminates the need for physical handling by the technologist.

    Low radiation

Radiation can cause long-term health effects and damage to the surrounding area that is being scanned. A CT -scan has 4-8 times the radiation of a mammogram as it is designed for visualization of nearly all parts of the body. The KBCT, however, is especially built to detect breast cancer. Combining low radiation and high accuracy allows patients to receive a firm diagnosis without unwanted side effects.

KBCT sites around the world have already scanned over 25,000 patients since the technology was launched. Approximately 15,000 of those patient scans were taken in 2021 alone. As the KBCT value system relies heavily on the importance of an easy and pain-free patient experience, our next step is improving accessibility. We are eager to quickly expand and allow for more personalized care worldwide.
